Emotional Regulation Group (Telehealth)

The Emotional Regulation Group at GroundPoint Counseling is a structured, skills-informed group designed to support adults who experience emotional overwhelm, intense reactions, or difficulty staying regulated during stress.

This group focuses on learning practical tools for noticing emotional cues, interrupting escalation, regulating in relationships, and recovering after activation — in ways that translate into daily life.

The group is telehealth-only and available to adults located in California.

What this group is

This group is:

  • Skills-informed and structured

  • Present-focused

  • Educational and therapeutic

  • Designed to support emotional regulation and nervous system stability

  • Paced intentionally to reduce overwhelm

Participants are not required to share personal history, trauma details, or disclose more than they feel comfortable sharing. Passing on activities or discussion is always allowed.

What this group is not

This group is not:

  • A process group

  • Trauma processing or exposure-based therapy

  • Crisis intervention

  • A substitute for individual therapy

  • Designed for individuals who need immediate safety support

This clarity helps ensure the group remains safe, contained, and appropriate for all participants.

Group structure

The Emotional Regulation Group follows a clear, predictable structure to support safety and learning.

Format:

  • 6-week group

  • 90-minute sessions

  • Telehealth only

  • Adults (California residents)

Sessions typically include:

  • Brief check-ins

  • Psychoeducation and skill introduction

  • Guided practice and reflection

  • Integration and take-home focus

Structure is used intentionally to support regulation, clarity, and participation without pressure.

Screening and enrollment

A brief screening call is required before joining the group. This call helps ensure the group is a good clinical fit and provides space to review expectations, answer questions, and discuss next steps.

Screening calls are:

  • Collaborative

  • Paced

  • Focused on clarity and safety — not pressure

If the group is not the right fit, referrals or alternative options may be offered.

Fees and availability

Group fees and any sliding scale options are discussed during the screening call, based on availability and clinical appropriateness.

Availability is limited to maintain group size and quality.

Why not? It just takes 10-15 minutes.
